To get movie player to work, I attempted to add repositories from medibuntu and a major failure of software occurred. Symaptic Package Mgr. shows only an error box. Add/Remove Applications error box reads - failed to check for anstalled and available applications.

Bug Description

I have feisty fawn 7.04. Installed by Dell, new machine - just got it. The sudo command line gave me this error message:

     libdvdread3 already newest version, set to manual installed

     cache->open() failed, please report.

     E: Type 'The' is not known on line 1 in source list/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.

     E: The list of sources could not be read.

Does anybody think this might be worth a phone call??? :)

Take the word The out of line one in sources.list file.

This is not a ubuntu issue please fix your sources.list or file a report on answers.launchpad.net

medibuntu is not supported by ubuntu. btw to fix your issue as i read it wrong first please run sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d than run update again.
