Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and trying to help make Ubuntu better. However, it seems that you are not using a software package provided by the official Ubuntu repositories. Because of this the Ubuntu project can not support or fix your particular bug. Please report this bug to the provider of the software package. Thanks!

I do not agree with your statement below, as it appears you are not familiar with Canonical's commercial Ubuntu repository!

Notice that realplay is there. It has nothing to do with the software provider. I want to know why realplay is provided in the commercial repository for Edgy, but not Feisty.

leoquant,

OK. But then I must ask the question about how to file a bug report on Canonical's commercial repositories. How would I do that? Launchpad and Ubuntu are both funded by Canonical. However, I don't understand why realplay dropped from the commercial repositories, and neither do many others. VMware Server was added for instance...

This package is present in that repository as we can see in the link below

but i don't understand why it does not appear using the repository.
However realplay package is not present in medibuntu repository https://bugs.launchpad.net/medibuntu/+bug/104115

Actually, you will notice that the latest file release date for those
RealPlay packages are well before the release of Feisty Fawn in April
of 2007. I spoke with one of the commercial packagers at Ubuntu Live
this week, and when asked about this, he just mentioned that they
didn't have enough time or resources to get a RealPlay package into
Feisty Fawn (7.04). So, I think it would be a good idea to leave the
bug open so that we can mark it RESOLVED if Gutsy adds the package
again...

I don't understand where is the problem with the mantainers of that repository; the package is present, the only thing to do is to add it in the package list.
Maybe is it a good idea to send a mail to mantainers?

Off topic: :)
the only thing i don't like in ubuntu is that many packages (probably those present in universe/multiverse like amsn or many multimedia players) are not frequently upgraded.

I agree, but they told me that they don't have enough people and are
understaffed. Volunteer your time to get it in there. Ask to become
a MOTU, and then from there, try to work on the Commercial repos...

Not any more.
From https://bugs.launchpad.net/medibuntu/+bug/104115 :

"Realplayer is already in the Canonical Commercial repository, so it has been removed from medibuntu/plf since dapper, and we won't readd it."
