Bug Description
Binary package hint: metacity
On laptops which generate a scan code when Fn+F8 is pressed, they will generate the $KEY_VIDEOOUT key code which will be 0xaa.
On laptops which generate some other kind of event, we will fake a key press for 0xaa
So please hook the 0xaa key in the window manager to run "xrandr --auto"
This will activate any connected displays, with appropriate sizes and arrangement, etc.

As discussed this should be handled in gnome-settings- daemon.
