Bug Description

Binary package hint: cupsys

Feisty, latest updates.

The URL of my printer is http://mc2430dl777354.local:631/ipp
I've verified this, it works from Firefox and produces a page of printer attributes.

I went directly to the CUPS web-based backend to configure the printer, to minimize the number of variables involved. Selected Minolta magicolor 2430 DL Foomatic/foo2zjs (recommended). Got prompted with appropriate options for page size, color mode, etc.

Printer appears in the printer list in the CUPS web interface, so I hit Print test page. Job starts, goes into the queue. After a while, job goes to Hold state. Checking the CUPS error log I see:

E [13/Jul/2007:14:01:17 -0500] [Job 7] Print file was not accepted (client-error-document-format-not-supported)!
E [13/Jul/2007:14:01:17 -0500] PID 6149 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/http) stopped with status 1!

Just for fun, I also tried setting up another printer with the same URL, but using the Minolta magicolor 2400W Foomatic/m2400w (recommended) driver, which is the official Minolta driver built from the GPL sources. Exact same error:

E [13/Jul/2007:14:10:08 -0500] [Job 8] Print file was not accepted (client-error-document-format-not-supported)!
E [13/Jul/2007:14:10:08 -0500] PID 6913 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/http) stopped with status 1!

from here : http://s3.phpbbforfree.com/forums/foo2zjs-about14.html

   Install build-essential FIRST :
        $ sudo apt-get install build-essential
        $ wget -O foo2zjs.tar.gz http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/foo2zjs.tar.gz
        $ tar zxf foo2zjs.tar.gz
        $ sudo make uninstall
        $ make
        $ ./getweb 2430
        $ sudo make install install-hotplug cups

THEN RECONFIGURE PRINTER TO USE Foomatic/foo2zjs driver.
If under 64 bit dont choose km2430_2.icm icm files, there is a known bug

Just tried again in 2008.04, and it actually works! It detected my printer via Bonjour, offered me an appropriate driver, and I was able to print!

Good show everyone.

Hope I'm not overstepping my authority, but I'm gonna mark this one as fixed.
