Bug Description

Why do we need kqemu-source. We can't modules be pre-build, or even better, included in the kernel packages?

I'm not sure, actually. KQEMU used to be propriety but it is now under the GPL license, so that would be a possibility.

Yes, please! If our community wants to spread Free, Open Source software (and we do, right?), this should be as easy to install (or more so!) than VMWare Player.

A GUI would be great too but I don't know of any...

which has an expected update soon...

here is an older one, but it requires KDE3, which won't be around forever :)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/kqemu/

these two each require Kommander, which I have problems with when my fonts are non-standard:

That doesn't apply to other modules prebuild by ubuntu.

As KQEMU is GPLed now, there should be no problem to get it into linux-ubuntu-modules-*-generic or something in my opinion.

I think it does. For example, the "nvidia" module exists pre-compiled in linux-restricted-modules-generic and can be compiled from source from nvidia-kernel-source/nvidia-legacy-kernel-source/nvidia-new-kernel-source.
