Bug Description

Hi,

I have the Hp dv2020ca with Amd Turion 64 and Ubuntu 7.04 and also Win xp.

The dual-boot works fine, and besides a "bios-bug" all works fine! I only have one huge problem, my wireless only works sometimes. At this moment I'm lucky that it works now that i can ask this question.

Description of the problem:
the blue light does not turn on (stays orange) even when the wireless card is tuned ON. I already had problems with my wireless regarding the dual-boot from windows, but now it doesn't work at all.

When the blue light does not turn on at startup and when i go in Ubuntu it seems it doesn't recognize the card at all, there is just no card present. I try to restart, it try to take out the battery and take off the power, tried to restart on the battery etc. Normally i cant get it working, only sometimes i'm lucky after restarting that it works.
I understand if it is not possible to solve the complete problem but I need a way to get it working when it doesn't. What i maybe think is that a "hard-reboot" maybe help Ubuntu initialize all the hardware again, but i don't know how to do that.

Broadcom Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-PCI Card

Please, I am really desperate for ANY help I can get with this problem.

In iwconfig you have: Link Quality:10/100 Signal level:-89 dBm Noise level:-96 dBm
I no almost nothing about wireless, but these values looks low to me.
Could it just be that your laptop is far away to the wireless router?

It is true that i am far away from the router, but i still have this problem when im close to the router.

I think this problem is either in the bios, or in the ubuntu system.

I have had an increase of problems regarding the wireless for the HP dv2000 with the latest BIOS update, including wireless working when 'orange' (off) and then cutting off, both in Vista and Ubuntu. However, after I resume from stand-by in Ubuntu sometimes eth1 (wireless) just disappears.

I still am not able to solve this problem with my wireless card. Because of this program i switched back to XP where everything works fine. I hope someone of the ubuntu team can solve this problem for me so i can use ubuntu again!
