Thanks for reporting this bug. It looks like it was asking for a mysql admin password. Can you please tell us exactly how you were installing the packages (apt-get, software center, synaptic, ...) and what you see when it completes? Does 'sudo apt-get install -f' do anything?

Hello,
the install is always by 'sudo apt-get install mysql-server'
install was made after another 'sudo apt-get remove maria-db'
or the contrary (remove mysql-server before install maria-db)
the bug go .. and the install is crashed

the only method to go out of this problem is :
install new partition of ubuntu (or mint ,,, or ... ) any Debian install :-(

Thank's for your mail
Olivier

I was not able to reproduce this on trusty, using the mysql-server-5.6 package. I wonder whether the bug has been fixed.

mariadb-server actually does not exist in 13.10. In 14.04 the
transition works fine for me. Were you using mariadb-server from
a ppa?
