Noticed while trying out the Session Switcher that changing the fonts in another session does have effect on the current session only.

Could you give us some clues about how to reproduce this problem?
I don't see this behaviour when using the font tab in the Appearance Preferences dialog.

You know.. I have no idea... I simply run the live-cd... try to change fonts under the live user and it doesn't work... it only works when I create a new user and switch to that.

So the problem is only using the LiveCD, and only for the default user?

Can you attach these files:

/etc/fonts/fonts.conf
~/.fonts/fonts.dir
~/.fonts.conf

What is displayed in terminal when you launch:

gnome-appearance-properties

OK here is the file containing what I found as you asked. Note: the last two commands are non existent.

However I have noticed that suddenly the fonts can be changed after an install! I will restart Gutsy in VMWare to see if it resets them back....

Everything seems to be alright now... but I do think that this is due to the bad dpi recognition bug.
