Bug Description

When using the privacy feature in gaim 1.1.4 with yahoo i have noticed i still

allow only from buddy list selected.
I'm also running hoary array 5 with the latest kernal build for 686.
Thanks for your time,
Tony

the privacy dialog is one of the worst imaginable interfaces for what it does,
certainly the least intuitive in all of gaim. its functioning depends highly on
what protocol you are configuring the privacy option for, even though the labels
in it never change. we are currently, though somewhat sporadically, discussing
and working on an improved interface for it.

anyway. with msn, the "allow below" and "deny below" lists are ALWAYS in use.
they do not block messages, but only control who can *see* you. in icq, only
one list is used, and once again, it controls state, not messaging. aim also
only uses one list, but that controls both state and messaging ability. yahoo &
jabber I forget. IRC does not use this dialog at all, and novell, meanwhile
(sametime), gadu-gadu, and zepher I also do not know.

Thankyou for responding to my question. I will simply set back and wait and

Thanks for making Linux fun :)

is that still an issue ? I'm not sure to understand what is the bug or to change ?

It appears to still be an issue on the latest version that I'M using. I can go
into a chatroom and get bombed with pm's even though pm's are set to off. Same
applies for the other networks as well.

whether or not it is a "bug" or simply a matter of poor design depends on what
protocol(s) he is using, and which he is reporting about.

I'm unsure how this relates to both sound and privacy. what sort of
environment are you in? kde? gnome? what is your sound preference
set to? Automatic? Arts? are you perhaps refering to the option(s) to
have sounds while away?

Please don't bring sound and other things into this "bug"...
Is this still an issue? Version 1.1.4 is rather old now...
