Bug Description

This may not in fact be a bug but I thought I'd report it for verification. I am installing my machine using the Tribe 5 alternate-amd64 installer. During the install software section I got notification of the following:

"The installation Cd does not contain full support for your language. Do you want to download the required packages from the Internet now? This includes spell-checking, dictionaries, and translations for various applications.

If you do not want to download this now, you may start the Language Selector after installation to install complete support for your language"

I am using US English with the Dvorak keyboard layout. I would think such a dominant language would come with full support, or is that presumptious of me?

slight update. after installation I entered the "System > Admin > Language Support" and was presented with the following windows. This is, again, just after installing the machine and receiving the above bug/error/notice. I told the installer to retrieve the language support needed.

See screenshot.

Err, no it's not, that's a separate issue.

Somebody took language-support-en out of the ship seed for amd64 to save space. This isn't a good idea - it needs to go back in before release.

Changed in debian-installer:
status: New → Confirmed

http://people.ubuntu.com/~ubuntu-archive/seeds/ubuntu.gutsy/ship shows language-support-en still not present for amd64, so this bug still applies.

I put it back, but now the amd64 alternate is overflown by 18 MB. We need to cut off some OpenOffice bits or something else. If nothing else helps, we have to kick this off the amd64 alternate again. It is not exactly the most popular CD, so it would be something we could live with.
