This is a problem with the opensync-plugins-kdepim package. It does not work with KDE > 3.5.5.
For this package to work it needs to be compiled against the newest KDE headers.

I get a similar error. When running Kitchensync from konsole I get the following error:

synchronization worked
libkcal: ERROR: Can't read uid map file '/home/jon/.kde/share/apps/kcal/uidmaps/remote_8tYKjCNSgi'
KCrash: Application 'libopensync-kdepim-plugin' crashing...

Can someone possibly trigger rebuild of this packages?
For now they are unusable

Please rebuild opensync-plugin-kdepim. As is, it is completely useless for kubuntu gutsy.

I rebuilt this opensync-plugin-kdepim package for myself against the actual kdepim package which is part of the gutsy. I can confirm a rebuild fix the problem. Now the synchronization just works between my local and my google calendar.

This is libkcal2b changing binary compatibility without anyone noticing.

I've uploaded a no change rebuild to gutsy-proposed, 0.19-1build1, please test.

I cannot find the rebuilt in gutsy-proposed.

I placed this in /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ gutsy-proposed restricted main multiverse universe

After an apt-get update, I still get this output for 'apt-cache policy opensync-plugin-kdepim':
opensync-plugin-kdepim:
  Installed: 0.19-1
  Candidate: 0.19-1
  Version table:
 *** 0.19-1 0

From the description I assume that only libopensync-plugin-kdepim is affected. Marking other package tasks as invalid.

There is a newer version in Hardy, so this should be fixed in Hardy.

Please, let Hardy offer opensync and friends of the latest stable version. On 2008-01-26, OpenSync 0.36 has been released.

For Feisty and Gutsy the (now one and a half year old) 0.19 version was used and hopefully this will not be the case for Hardy. But here:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/opensync
it is still listed as 0.19.

Can the latest stable release of OpenSync be distributed with Hardy?

And what about https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/183264 in Hardy?

Can anyone please test the new package in -proposed? If there is no feedback at all, I'm going to remove the -proposed packages due to inactivity again. Thank you!

I can confirm that opensync-plugin-kdepim is now working correctly. Opensync-plugin-google-calendar is now crashing however, but that is probably another issue. Synchronization between kdepim and file is now working as expected.
