Bug Description

On the laptop ASUS A8JS :

"lspci" returns :

"aplay -l" returns :

On Ubuntu Feisty Fawn (7.04, kernel 2.6.20, alsa 1.0.13), the sound was perfect with the line :
options snd-hda-intel model=3stack
in the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base file

But when upgraded to Gusty Gibbon Tribe CD 5 (7.10, kernel 2.6.22, alsa 1.0.14), the sound is very low and I have only two channels in alsamixer. Even with "model=3stack" or by re-compiling the alsa-driver version 1.0.14. I was unable to compile alsa-driver version 1.0.13.

I have the same problem with a similar chipset. After upgrading to Tribe 5 - no microphone, the laptop build-in speakers doesn't work, the volume levels lock frequently and only four tracks - "Headphone", "PCM", "Front", "Digital".

The problems with HDA Intel sound card have been fixed in the latest Alsa driver. Please try again in Hardy and reopen the bug if necessary.
