Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20

E: Malformed line 49 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)
E: The list of sources could not be read.
Go to the repository dialogue to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

the above is the error message and i am unable to load any updates/ upgrades

I'm assigning this to synaptic for now.

What does line 49 in /etc/apt/sources.list read? (you can view the file e.g. with "gedit" or any other text editor).

Have you done something that would has changed your sources list, e.g. manually added a source?
