Bug Description

Please sync dvgrab 3.0-1 (universe) from debian (unstable).

The Ubuntu patch for dvgrab 1.8 can be dropped, it has been fixed upstream. I think it's necessary to sync/uvf this package because it contains tons of bugfixes, those bugs have not been reported in LP, but I've heard people complaining about this on IRC. This new package doesn't seem to contain any new feature.

I will attach the needed files

UVFe status should be New or Incomplete until approved by motu-uvf. You will need to subscribe motu-uvf once the UVFe is complete. Please look at your changelog diff. It doens't actually have any information about new changes in it.

I will have a look at the changelog.diff problem within a few minutes, they are naturally somme changes between the two releases... I must have done something wrong.

I'm inclined to accept this, but it does have new features:

"This release exclusively uses the new third generation Linux IEEE 1394 capture
API available in raw1394 and libiec61883. The libiec61883 provides a protocol-
specific layer over the raw foundation. This new approach is both robust and
simpler than using protocol-specific kernel modules such as dv1394. As a result,
dvgrab 2.0 requires Linux kernel 2.4.20 or newer."

In addition to installing, would you please confirm that this actually works?

Yeah I noticed this... I can confirm that it partially works : as I don't have a dv camera, I could only test that the "read from file" mode works, that you can set the number of frames, the delays... But I can't test the dv interface. However, it's said to work better than in 1.8.

In addition, bugs reported against dvgrab in upstream bug tracker : http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=14103&atid=114103 , in the category field choose dvgrab, there are only three bugs, none of them seems really important to me.

I've tested dvgrab 3.0-1 with my dv camera and as far as I can tell it works (I've only tested if it could capture video from my dv camera).

Thank you very much Michael Bienia ! Another person on #ubuntu-motu has tested it, with dvgrab 1.8 he had to use some hacks to had it work, now it works out of the box, but it doesn't capture the video every time, however it was the same with dvgrab 1.8 : dvgrab 3.0 seems to be better : no hacks.
