Bug Description
Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird
Thunderbird 1.5.0.13 on kubuntu, Feisty Fawn, all updates are current
Easy to reproduce:
Go to an email that has an attachment, say a .doc file.
Double-click the attachment. It opens in openoffice, as I have selected in my preferences.
Edit the document. Save ("Save", not "Save as") and close the document. At this point, the document is in /tmp/whatever.doc.
Close Thunderbird.
Then, /tmp/whatever.doc is gone.
There is no way this can be correct. Thunderbird should check, at the very least, the mtime of the file before deleting it. It could also check the MD5 hash of the contents. It could also ask the user before deleting, or have a setting somewhere in the attachments tab that changes this behavior.
