Bug Description
The Ubuntu 7.04 Live CD installer seems to be incompatible with my hardware. It is a recently purchased ASUS Pundit3-PH5X barebone. I have installed a Samsung DVD drive (SH-S183L) and a Samsung HDD (SP2504C), both devices are connected via SATA.
After choosing an install option the installer breaks down after the "Readying restricted drivers" message, and puts out an endless stream of Buffer I/O error at sr0 messages.
I assume the kernel has problems with the SATA DVD drive. The install media is ok (checked), and the whole system works flawlessly under Windows XP SP2
I tried turning of AHCI in the BIOS, because I have read that this is can cause problems, but I did not help.
The motherboard uses the Intel G965 chipset.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description does not yet have enough information.
Could you please check if this problem still occurs in the newest hardy kernel.
Please include the following additional information, if you have not already done so (pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command "uname -a" in your next response. It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command "dmesg > dmesg.log" after a fresh boot and attach the resulting file "dmesg.log" to this bug report.
3. Please run the command "sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log" and attach the resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report.
4. Please run the command "cat /proc/version_ signature > version.log" and attach the resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report.
For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-related bug reports is available at http:// wiki.ubuntu. com/KernelTeamB ugPolicies.
Thanks in advance
