Bug Description

Binary package hint: gkrellm

When using compiz, killing nautilus will cause gkrellm to disappear. gkrellm is still running, it just doesn't show up anywhere. Killing gkrellm and restarting it will cause it to show up again. This is on Gutsy, but the problem also occurred in Feisty (using Beryl instead of compiz).

To reproduce: use compiz, start gkrellm, then bring up a terminal and enter "killall nautilus". gkrellm will disappear from the desktop, but will still show up in the process list. If gkrellm isn't set to allow multiple instances, trying to start gkrellm won't make anything show up until you've killed the existing gkrellm process.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 beta or later?

I haven't tried the 8.10 beta, but this doesn't happen for 8.04.
