Bug Description

When I updated new kernel from 2.6.15-28-386 to -29- in Dapper my USB WLAN device stopped to work.
It is D-Link DWL-G122 hw version C1, lsusb can see it, iwconfig or ifconfig do not see it.
If I choose -28- kernel, D-Link works as it used to work.
I did a new installation using following link: http://wiki.ubuntu-it.org/Hardware/DispositiviSenzaFili/RalinkRT73 , and it started to work again.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description does not yet have enough information.

Please include the following additional information, if you have not already done so (pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command "uname -a" in your next response. It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command "dmesg > dmesg.log" after a fresh boot and attach the resulting file "dmesg.log" to this bug report.
3. Please run the command "sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log" and attach the resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report.

For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-related bug reports is available at [WWW] http://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies. Thanks in advance!

Here you have that uname -a:

Linux makkari 2.6.15-29-386 #1 PREEMPT Wed Aug 29 13:20:33 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

And I try to attach those logs.

Jari

Hi Jari,

There hasn't been any recent activity in this bug report and we were wondering if this is still an issue with the latest Hardy Heron 8.04 Alpha release which is the next LTS target. The Hardy Heron Alpha series was recently released which contains an updated version of the kernel. You can download and try the new Hardy Heron Alpha release from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/hardy/ . You should be able to then test the new kernel via the LiveCD. If you can, please verify if this bug still exists or not and report back your results. General information regarding the release can also be found here: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ .

Also note that we'll keep this report open against the actively developed kernel but this will be closed against 2.6.15. Thanks.

Hello Leann,

I downloaded alpha 5 (desktop i386), and tried that via LiveCD.
It do recognice DWL-G122 C1, and I did get connection through that.
So, it seems that you have fix that bug.
Thank You

Kind Regards

Per a decision made by the Ubuntu Kernel Team, bugs will longer be assigned to the ubuntu-kernel-team in Launchpad as part of the bug triage process. The ubuntu-kernel-team is being unassigned from this bug report. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies for more information. Thanks.
