Bug Description

System specs: Gutsy Gibbon Tribe 5, Kernel 2.6.22-11-generic, Intel Pentium 4, ATI R300 NE [9500pro] with 2.0.6473 (8.37.6) installed, desktop effects deaktivated.

Description: System seems to freeze randomly, mouse still movable, slow framrates, no response on special key-combos, fozen for *ever*, hard reboot required.

Note: This bug was present in edgy aswell feisty and is now in gutsy.

I have experienced the same - Toshiba Tecra M1, Gutsy Gibbon - had same problem under Fiesty. Using 32-bit version, however there are multiple threads in the 64-bit forum

I'll check and see if this occurs at the next lock up

Well, I don't get this freezes anymore, as I killed my P4 about 1 year ago, and since then, I had no reandom freezes anymore.
I think, there is somebug, but as P4 are going to dy out very soon, this won't be much of a problem, aswell as the fact that the bugreport gained very minor activity within the last months. This makes me think, that either nobody uses P4 cores anymore and/or latest Ubuntu versions fixed it.
