Bug Description

Binary package hint: displayconfig-gtk

Hi,

I'm using dual monitors and extend my main screen to my second (not cloning).
When new windows are opened they appear by default on the secondary screen when they should default to the main one.
This makes it unusable for people who don't always have both monitors connected.

Dave.

Are you using the desktop effects? This is a window manager bug. So it depends on which you are using: metacity or compiz.

Try just moving the mouse icon onto the main monitor. Found this myself once and I'd left the mouse on the secondary screen, silly I know but shouldn't happen after a clean reboot. Chow

Hello! In order to help you better, we'd like to know a few things:

Do you still have this problem?
Do you run desktop effects?
If so, does it happen if you disable desktop effects?
Do you run GNOME, Xfce, or another window manager?
Does John Fensome's idea work?

Thank you!
