Xinerama is not supported by nvidia and does not work with compiz. Use nvidia's TwinView stuff to get dual monitors working. Check out the nvidia-settings app for a nice GUI way to set this up.

Changed in compiz:
status: New → Invalid

I received the same error using xinerama. The bug I believe is valid. If compiz or beryl is enabled, the option to use xinerama should be greyed out and forced to use seperate X sessions or suggest twinview. This is one of the struggles I have every time I set up Ubuntu.
