Pedro, I heavily disagree. This *is* a bug, and you should not prematurely close bug reports without inspecting at least the log. Installing libgphoto2-2 failed with a segfault, which should not happen.

Janus, can you please give the output of

sudo sh -ex /var/lib/dpkg/info/libgphoto2-2.postinst configure 2.4.0-2ubuntu1

? Thank you!

ligphoto2-2 gives the same problem here. Below is the result of the command Martin Pitt asked for:

I managed to fix the problem. I located and deleted all files of my previous libgphoto and gphoto installation, which for some reason were not deleted after uninstall. After that new install works without a problem.

Thanx for fast response,

To deal with this error I just manually removed all information about
libgphoto2-2 from /var/lib/dpkg/info
Next again
apt-get check
apt-get update
apt-get install libgphoto2-2

everythin works fine.
What was it??

I had the same problem upgrading from Feisty to Gutsy with the graphical installer. I can confirm that for me, the following appears to have fixed libgphoto2-2 and all its dependencies:

sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/libgphoto2-2*
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
