enabling desktop effects should be smoother

Bug Description

Binary package hint: desktop-effects

By enabling the effects in the preferences the window decoration is "flickering". I hope everybody know what this means and is also seeing this issue.

This does look very unprofessional indeed and my suggestion would be to grey out everything (same method like gksudo uses?) and show the new desktop again when compiz has taken control over the windows. That way it would be a smooth transition.

Since when should this be a reason to not doing it better? It shouldn't be hard to do a solution like i suggested. But it would look much better.

Jeremy, I think what he means to say is that when one enables desktop effects, all windows flicker and everything disappears before reappearing with effects on. He is suggesting a smoother transition between disabled effects and enabled effects.

Thank you Nanley, that was exactly what i meant by this.

But it does not seem that somebody is interested in fixing this.
