Bug Description

When I select "suspend" from the kde "log out" menu, my system suspends (i.e. the power light blinks), but it doesn't wake up properly. What happens is the power light comes on (i.e. stops blinking) and the fan starts up, but the screen remains blank. Key combinations such as ctrl-alt-fwhatever seem to have no effect. The reset button on the case is also disabled and so I have to force a halt by holding down the power button. I am using an Asus A7V motherboard and the nvidia legacy driver.

By contrast, if I "echo mem > /sys/power/state", the system both suspends and resumes, albeit with a minor problem in that the monitor flashes up an "out of range" message citing a horizontal frequency of something like 153KHz and a vertical frequency of something like 253Hz. ctrl-alt-f2 followed by ctrl-alt-f7 restores the display to what it was when I suspended. This minor annoyance only occurs if I suspend from X, rather than from a text console. Should I report this as a separate bug?
