Bug Description

When I upgrade from Dapper to Edgy I get problems wich I think is related to my graphic card. In Dapper my favourite game supertux function well, but to get a never realease I need to upgrade to Feisty.
What happen then, is the game play in slow motion and can not be used.
I had the same problems when I installed Feisty from scratch.
My graphic card is Nvidia gforce 7100. It also affect programs like xawtv and gyachi where my webcam can not be used.
One thing I know for sure, is all these things functioned in Feisty earlier (like 2 or 3 mths ago). And that leads me to think it must be the new fixes and upgrades that bring this problem. At present time my harware info in Dapper is Unknown Nvidia device, and all info I get in Dapper say Nvidia manufacturer, and about PCI say "unknown".
But anyhow it function well in Dapper, good screen resolution (1280x1024) but in Edgy and Feisty I have 800x600, and problems like slow motion supertux.
So now I dont dare to waist time and energy more to upgrade to a newer version.

Hi! You've now feisty, right? Have you tried to install nvidia-glx-new package ?

Hi, I have tried nvidia-glx-new earlier, and it is not giving any improvements. As a matter of fact, it chrashes my x-session and I have only text-based interface. The same both for nvidia-glx-new and nvidia-glx.
At present I'm back to Dapper, and I cant understand why this "old" release is functioning well for *most* of what I want from my computer, but none of the newer versions do that.
As a matter of fact, none of the Ubuntu releases have been able to utilize CD-DW. I can write only once, and from there only read. But the symbol CD-RW present.

Hi aha5262,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
