Bug Description

In gutsy up to date (installed from tribe 5, and all updates applied), usb keys don't mount automatically.
They mount only if an usb key was inserted before boot (and then, I can umount and remount automatically).

My config : HP DV6510EF

I've forgotten to say that usb key's aren't assigned a device like /dev/sdb, for example...

After a reboot (with an USB key plugged in), USB keys are recognized and mounted automatically.
The next comments shows you the same logs after the reboot.

I tried to search a little, this afternoon...
Module usb_storage isn't loaded when it has to be.
But I can't load it manualy (modprobe seems to "freeze").
I can't lsusb neither ("freeze" to)... Is this related ?

I have the same problem: USB keys don't mount in Gutsy.
I'll check if rebooting works.

Just a confirmation that my USB key is correctly mounted if it is inserted before I reboot my pc.

According to http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-529895.html I blacklisted the uvcvideo module, and everything works fine now (except webcam, but it didn't work anyway, I don't have time for now to search why...).

The 18 month support period for Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 has reached its end of life -

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.04). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 148127, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
