Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

When gnome starts, the panel is invisible - i.e., only desktop wallpaper with icons on it is shown. However, menu appears after any click on the desktop. If you click on the place where the menu should be, it correctly handles the click - appears with the menu item open.

This happens every time since one of the latest gutsy updates.
P.S. Might have something to do with the fact that I'm using compiz/emerald - some redraw issue.

I can also confirm this on multiple computers.

Running both fglrx and nvidia-new drivers, using one bottom panel only - running Desktop Effects with "Extra Effects" enabled.

Panel shows when clicked on the area... Perhaps the load order needs to be changed or compiz load delayed?

I tried changing the load order (making sure gnome-panel was loaded after nautilus, as suggested somewhere online), but that didn't help. Gnome-panel loads fine, but it seems that when compiz loads it just turns invisible.

I managed to get my panel back to a visible stat by turning of "clone output" in ccsm. Not sure how or why this works, but I'm glad it does for me :) Hope this can help some of you out there.
