Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-control-
I am not sure this is the corecct place to reprt this bug.
I am using a Thinkpad with hardware brightness and audio volume control.
On a new user account, I got a nice osd like

on user accounts of earlier ubuntu version I got no osd.
