Bug Description

Binary package hint: hal

In latest gutsy, HAL yesterday stopped working and complained about missing username haldaemon.
Because of this, network-manager couldn't find my wireless devices.

Doing "sudo useradd haldaemon" fixed the warning and hal worked again.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Do you have any log files left over from this event? The log file '/var/log/apt/term.log' might be useful in figuring out what went wrong. Additionally, your '/etc/apt/sources.list' file would be interesting too. Thanks in advance.

Changed in hal:
status: New → Incomplete

No, sorry, don't have anything left from that system... this might have been an error that only occurred during the development cycle and so it won't hit any new users, I guess. Thanks anyway.
