Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

Not sure if this is a kernel issue or an Xorg issue, but since this kernel came down X has been freezing on me under moderate work loads. Compiz is running with wobbly windows turned on and I will try to turn wobbly off to see if that makes a difference. I filed an earlier bug report (151373) because I thought it was only happening when Skype is running but that is not the case.

I think this might be related to KVM running. Seems to me that has been the common application running each time the freeze occurs. I was running XP under a KVM session, but have switched back to VMWare Server to see if the freezes go away.

Well, KVM isn't the culprit. Other common applications running: Compiz, Thunderbird, Firefox. I've disabled wobbly windows under compiz since I know that one tends to be a problem.

Will run w/o for rest of the day to see.

Pretty much ran freeze free yesterday with Wobbly turned off. Not sure if an update fixed the problem or not. I'm going to run with it turned back on for and see if the problem was fixed in an update.

Freeze today. Apparently there is a problem with the latest Nvidia driver. Only weird thing is, this only seems to happen to me when running thunderbird. Weird.

This is no longer occurring under Hardy Heron/Latest Nvidia drivers.
