Bug Description

New Description:
After I reinstall the Ubuntu 7.1 as well as Gimmie with the latest version and updates at the date Feb 10th,2008. I find the problem still exists. However the phenomenon is different from the one I reported previously.
When I use Gimmie Applet,
select Linux-->Shut down-->Shut down
The computer will not shut down, instead the whole "Shut down this computer now?" window will just disappear without performing any action. This also happens to the "Restart" command.
Ubuntu version: 7.1

Previous Description reported at 2007-10-22:
When I use Gimmie Applet,
select Linux-->Shut down-->Shut down
The computer will not shut down, instead the whole will freeze with a black screen. After that I cannot use Alt+Control+F1 to jump to another console. What I can do is turn off the computer manually.
Ubuntu Version :7.10 RC

I am sorry I am unable to tell whether the issue still exists in the newest

KDE instead.

Sorry for any inconvinence caused.

It does not matter what we have, but it really matters who we are.

---------------
gimmie (0.2.8-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * debian/rules: Install README, TODO
  * debian/README.Debian: Add file explaining important differences
    compared to the original code.
  * others/highlight-results.diff: When searching, highlight the
    matching string (Closes: #455601)
  * fixes/entry-grab-focus.diff: Search box grabs focus (Closes: #467617)
  * fixes/disable-bugbuddy.diff: Disable, because it just hides problems
  * extensions/replace-iconentry.diff: [UPDATE] Fix clear button
  * Activate replace-gdmclient.diff and depend on gnome-panel. (LP: #151984,
