USB Audio test crashes; No sound via USB HiFi Link

Bug Description

Binary package hint: hal

No sound using Xitel PRO HiFin Link USB digital audio out. Under Preferences-Sound, changing any/all drop-down menus to USB Audio gives the following error: Failed to construct test pipeline for 'audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink'.
Sound used to play using Rhytmbox and test sound also used to play via HiFi Link.
