Random crashes and freezes in Gutsy 7.10 release candidate

Bug Description

Random crashes and freezes occur when doing multiple tasks. System has AMD Duron processor 1.3 mhz and 256 mb ram. Installed using Alternate Cd yet it was difficult because the install kept freezing up as well during the installation of software packages
