eog hangs when I try to open e second image

Binary package hint: eog

If I try to open several images, one by one, eog hangs.

Steps to reproduce:
1. open a jpeg by clicking on it
2. now open e second jpeg by clicking on it -> eog hangs

using gutsy, all updates applied

the instructions are actually for a crashing programm, but here, the program does not respond anymore, so i don't get the prompt of gdb back to type "backtrace". is there a way to interuppt the programm in a way to get a usable stacktrace ?

I am experiencing a very similar problem in Hardy, where only second double-clicked image actually open EOG. I mean, if I double-click an image file nothing happens, but if I doulble click it (or any other image) again, EOG opens alright.

If I double-click a third image nothing happens, but the fourth works. And so on.
