Thanks for reporting this bug.

mountkernfs should not be a problem, here is its description:

# Short-Description: Mount kernel virtual file systems.
# Description: Mount initial set of virtual filesystems the kernel
# provides and that are required by everything.

I'll mark this as affecting initscripts, which provides mountkernfs,
because I don't know what to look for to determine why mountkernfs
would not be provided.

I cannot reproduce this problem. The initscripts package, which provides mountkernfs, is a dependency of the init system, so it is always present. Is there a problem with the /etc/init.d/mountkernfs.sh file on your system? If it's present, please attach it to this bug.

Changed in sysvinit (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

Hi Steve,

I hit this bug after fresh installation on my notebook. I removed Ubuntu
like a week ago, so I can't provide you with additional details right now.

I will try to reproduce it with fresh VM and will let you know my findings.
