Ah. Didn't find this one the first time round.
I have just added my experiences to bug 129986 which refers to version 0.67, but is otherwise identical. I added 4 log files there, if anyone wants them.

There is also another bug used as master: bug #156240 I think it's the best idea to use that, since the report is newer and the information too. I'll mark this one as a duplicate of that bug and tell that at bug #129986

I don't think this is a bug. The ion3 package deliberate disallows non-interactive installation, due to the licence conditions.

@Ben: Thanks for looking into this. We do not run with DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive by default. I would be interessted to get the logs, they probably contain enough information to get a good idea what went wrong.
