Bug Description

Binary package hint: displayconfig-gtk

I have a Dell Inspiron 510m with an Intel 855GM graphics chip (using -Intel driver).

When I plug in an external monitor, it mirrors at different resolution, as it should (my laptop is 1400x1050 and the screen only supports 1280x1024). What seems unusual, however, is that Displayconfig says that the second monitor is disabled. It also will not let me configure the secondary monitor options (extend to left etc.).

Let me know what you need.

Changing the resolution has no effect.

The second screen cannot be autodetected currently, furthermore displayconfig-gtk does not support dual head with the latest intel and ati driver anymore, since boths drivers no longer support zapohad (use xrandr 1.2 instead).

Alternatively you can use the command line tool xrandr, the frontend grandr or take a look at http://www.intellinuxgraphics.org/dualhead.html

In Hardy Alpha 2, I can no longer press the hotkey and have an attached monitor work. Is that due to the lack of XRandR support?
