LUKS partition mounted to /dev/mapper, but not to /media

Bug Description

I have several LUKS encrypted USB external hard drives. Under Feisty, I pluged them into the USB and after a while got Gnome "pop-up window" asking me for password. When provided right password, removable LUKS device was mounted in /media/...

Sometimes in Feisty this did't worked (encrypted partitions work inconsistently, sometimes they mount and sometimes not), but I was unable to find a final solution - however, I was able to manually mount /dev/mapper/luks_xxxxx device.

Today I upgraded to Gutsy and downloaded all patches - but automounting of /dev/mapper/luks_xxxxx devices does not work anymore. When I plug in USB external drive, I got Gnome "pop-up window" asking me for password. Then /dev/mapper/luks_xxxxx is created, but not automounted on /media/xxx.

Any solution?

BTW: how to remount all devices? sudo mount -a remounts only those in fstab...

Looks like Bug #148003.

IMHO, it's a race between udev and cryptsetup (libdevmapper).

I "fixed" it by removing /etc/udev/rules.d/65-dmsetup.rules.

This file seems to have been introduced by a recent Ubuntu patch. Presumably there was a good reason for it, but it causes havoc.
