Text on the Login Screen is so small it is unreadable

Like many Ubuntu users today, my monitor is a 46 inch HDTV in my living room. Everything works perfectly except for one thing: the login screen text is small to the point of being unreadable. After I type in my username and password (although I can't see what I typed because the characters are too small) and log into the desktop, Ubuntu works perfectly and with the correct size on text.
