Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

in fresh install guttys, the openoffice word always crash when inserting a picture into the document. Try to reopen the word, recover the files and still crash no matter what you do. try to update the openoffice, but it seems to be crashed as previous state. Try to remove the openoffice, install openoffice .deb packages from sun.com, still give me crash.

Hi Azhar,

I meant what desktop theme like human, crux, ...
You can see these in System->Preferences->Appearance
Open office 2.3.0 has problems with some themes, human should be OK

Is it one particular word document that is causing the problem or any word document? If it is one in particular can you attach the document to the launchpad bug?

I've got gusty 7.10. Mine is freezing when inserting images. I have the human theme. I reinstalled all the openoffice.org packages using the ubuntu archives. I'm using OO Writer 2.3. I don't know what else to add. Happens with any doc and any image type. Very irritating.

Any free similar programs to use until this bug is fixed? Or go back to an old version of OO? Not back to feisty though.

Thanks.

I'm using 64-bit gutsy, Gnome Desktop 2.20.1, the human theme, and open office 2.3.0. If I click Insert >> Picture >> From File... then the dialog box comes up. The default location is:
~/.openoffice.org2/user/gallery

which seems kind of strange, I expect it to be the Documents or ~ directory.

The moment I try to navigate to any other directory, Open Office crashes. This happens with a new document or an existing document, and happens in Spreadsheet or Word Processor. The recovery wizard comes up, but actually doesn't work, and I have to physically kill soffice.bin.

Rebooting or CTRL+ALT+Backspace have no effect.
