Bug Description

Notifications on new forum comments are sent to the mahara root user (ID=0). This appeared after a Mahara upgrade. The current version is 16.04.3.

Update: The system user in mahara has the default address <email address hidden>. Now that the mahara instance sends out mails to an inexistent address, it would get blacklisted by the networks mail "watchdog". This could turn into a bigger problem for the mahara application, as all mails would get blocked.

To reproduce this problem, change the <email address hidden> email address in the mahara DB to a real address so you receive the mails sent there.

Tagged in as "medium" as others still receive forum posts, but root user also gets them. We still need a confirmation of the issue.
