Hey Jeremy,

Looking at the Debian bug it seems that you tried a few different themes.

One more troubleshooting step here, how does this look on a fresh Lubuntu Zesty daily install?

Subscribing Rafael Laguna directly as it may be relevant to have him involved.

Simon: Abiword 3.02-1 is completely useless with black flashing of the text window, as I have seen on xubuntu/lubuntu zesty as well as on updated debian stretch.

I installed nvidia driver (304.xx) on lubuntu zesty, after which abiword did not open at all and crashed.
Also in extix16.5 (ubuntu16.10 based with LXQt 0.10.0 DE and with gtk 3.20.9(?)) Abiword won't start at all.

Thanks for your work. The black flashing has disappeared, however there still is annoying white flashing (moving downwards) of the grey borders around the text window. This in Lubuntu Zesty updated.

Henk, you should file a separate bug for that issue, since comments on a closed bug are easily missed.

Please test with the Adwaita theme also since that's the default for most other distros.

Jeremy,

see #1648950.
Changing themes showed to have no effect. In lubuntu zesty there is no
Adwaita widget theme, only an Adwaita icon theme.
