I'm not sure, the http:// handler and the mimetype configuration are different
things. The gnome-default-applications-properties dialog define what to use when
you click on a http://something on a mail by example, the nautilus config is for
local files.

Yes, i know that but i think this comportement is not intuitive.
A solution is maybe to change the default html mimetype app by something like
"GNOME default browser" instead of firefox or any specific broswer.
So, the user can change the html mimetype app by a HTML editor or something like
that for his locale files.

Why do I keep getting these messages, at this point I have received this
exact message from the BTS at LEAST 12 times over the last couple of
months. Once the bug is marked isn't that sufficiant?

It appears that it uses the most recently installed browser installed via apt. I generally install Epiphany as a fallback browser for various things, and it naturally supersedes Firefox as default browser (even though I want Firefox as default.)

Installing Dillo will set it as default. Of course, this issue is not confined to Nautilus. It will also improperly trigger on xdg-open, which means that a variety of (properly engineered) programs fail to use the proper browser. I have personally observed it on:

- Hulu Desktop
- Springlobby (springlobby package in universe)
- Pidgin

It's a significant interoperability issue, since there's no reason to assume software will be using the gnome-open method of opening files.

That configuration dialog is deprecated in GNOME3 and Oneiric so closing the bug, feel free to open new bugs about other issues you might find in the new version though
