Bug Description

This happens occasionally while while using Firefox. I thought it was some setting for turning things off when there was no keyboard activity, but trying to watch a DVD with Kaffeine is causing it to happen every 30 to 60 seconds. I am not getting any errors reported. Let me know what information would help.

I looks like an Xorg issue to me. When you dont use the system, the screen goes black. It should not be a bug. Please furnish more details if you can. Just screen going black cannot be categorized as a bug.

Hi henwyn,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having.

Oh, sorry about that.

Actually I am using the 2.6.27-7-eeepc version of the kernel, so I can
not easily go to jaunty.

My bug report actually does indicate a problem with xorg or dri, as it
crashes frequently (in minutes) while browsing certain websites while
other web sites cause no problem.

Switching to another browser (I've tried opera too) does not help. Same
crashes with the same web sites. I have no idea why certain sites cause
the problem, they appear to be normal web pages.

However the webbrowsers are the only applications causing the problem,
openoffice, evolution, adobe reader, mpeg players work fine.

Maybe you could move my bug report to a new bug?

Thanks in advance,

---
