On an up-to-date 18.04 machine today I can no longer reproduce this crash. Could someone else confirm the same?

I just ran updates on my 18.04 machine today also and can confirm Slack is working under Wayland

Also tracking xorg-server, so people can find this bug more easily, and in case a fix is required in Xwayland directly.

I've just done a little tidy up of some of the hottest xorg-server crashes. This one is presently #64 of the xorg-server crashes affecting bionic. There have been 7 reports of it on errors.ubuntu.com in the past year.

I have the same problem. How to provide additional information?

I'm on cosmic, upgraded from bionic, and I have the same issue. I had to revert to an X11 session in order to launch slack.

I'm seeing what I believe to be the same issue with Visual Studio Code. If I try to start it after logging in using Gnome on Wayland, I find myself looking at a login screen. (If I login to Gnome on Xorg this does not happen.)

There is a core file in my home directory

I have the same problem on Debian Testing but not Fedora 28. (On Debian testing I am not running vs code as a snap.)

I would like to use Wayland for the improved monitor scaling so I can use a 1600x1200 eternal monitor with a QHD laptop.

If there is any further information I could provide (and I'm sure I'm light in this regard) please let me know.

I recently switched back to Ubuntu, only to find that Slack in a snap is still crashing on Wayland! Accepted xorg-server into cosmic-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/2:1.20.3-0ubuntu0.18.10.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

The fix for this bug has been awaiting testing feedback in the -proposed repository for cosmic for more than 90 days. Please test this fix and update the bug appropriately with the results. In the event that the fix for this bug is still not verified 15 days from now, the package will be removed from the -proposed repository.

Is this fix being backported to bionic?
I am still getting crashes with the snap version of skype (8.34.0.78) on xwayland-hwe-18.04.

bionic upload is on the queue, this bug is not mentioned on the changelog though so you get no notification about it
