Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnucash

Typing the following command:
  $ sudo apt-get -f install gnucash
results in...

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gnucash: Depends: libgoffice-0-4 (>= 0.4.2) but it is not installable or
libgoffice-gtk-0-4 (>= 0.4.2) but it is not installable

This has been caused by the recent upgrade of libgoffice-0-4 to libgoffice-0-5.

Can you also provide the version of gnucash you installed? You can know this by typing this on a terminal :

apt-cache policy gnucash

Thanks for this information. Can you also tells what processor architecture you are using? i386? x64? PPC? I do know that libgoffice dependencies are still not ready in ubuntu repositories for PPC so that could explain this problem.

Sorry!

% uname -a
Linux mutant 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Sun Oct 14 21:45:15 GMT 2007
x86_64 GNU/Linux

My diagnosis is that gnucash needs to be rebuild to use libgoffice-0-5
instead of libgoffice-0-4, since libgoffice-0-4 is not around any more.
It didn't occur to me that this would differ so much between architectures.

Very plausible. I'll look into this in the next hours, once I've got one Virtualbox console under Hardy. It's clearly just a dependency problem which should be fixed very quickly assuming that the dependencies are available and compatible. Thanks a lot for this bug report.

libgoffice-0-5 is now in Hardy but the stable release is still libgoffice-0-4 which isn't available through repositories since a few days. libgoffice-0-4 should re-appear in ubuntu repositories in few days. I'll keep watching this bug report in the next days.

libgoffice-0-4 is back again in the repositories. Gnucash can now be installed without problems. I set the status of this bug to fix released. Thanks again for your bug report and for the time you took to make ubuntu better!

FYI, gnucash 2.2.2 allows building against libgoffice 0.5.

Thomas Bushnell plan to update gnucash to 2.2.2 version in debian ( no promise that it will be in a short time ). I think that we can wait for it since libgoffice-0-5 seems to be pretty new.
