Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-calc
Using Ubuntu 7.10
Trying to open spreadsheet file with .ods extension. I get error message that says the filename indicates that the file is an 'ods. document but the file contents indicate that the file is of the type 'ODS spreadsheet'. The file then will not open. I can open the file by right clicking on it's icon and select the option of opening the file using OOo spreadsheet. Renaming the file but keeping the .ods extension solves the problem temporarily but after several resaves of the file the problem returns.

In case you did not receive the file containing the error that I sent earlier, I am resending it.

openoffice.org 1:2.3.1-3ubuntu3 which is the current version in Hardy can open this file fine. I don't have an install of Gutsy around at the moment so I can't test there right now, but it looks like it will be fixed for the next release.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney

Thanks for the update.

Just FYI, Gutsy would open the file fine for a day or two and then stop
opening the file and give me the error message that I included with my
bug report; Hardy may do the same after a few days.
I've avoided the situation by saving my spreadsheet files without any
extension. So far they open fine every time.
