Bug Description

Hi,

I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon. My soundcard doesn't work all the time. It works intermittedly, when it wants to I guess. I have a SoundBlaster 5.1 digital. I hope there will be a fix for this too. Thank you very much!
Sincerely, Cheryl Holmes

Is the working/not-working determined at boot time, or does the sound come and go over the course of one boot? Are there certain applications it fails in, or certain applications it never fails in?

Please include the information requested from the "Reporting Sound Bugs" section of https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSoundProblems as separate attachments.

Thank you for responding Wolfger. I did a typo, the soundcard is the SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 digital. It is recognized in the "hardware" under system.

The sound is determined at bootup time. If there is sound at bootup, there will be sound throughout the time the computer is on and running. If there is no sound at bootup, then there is no sound during the session it is on and running. There will be no sound in streaming videos like those on You Tube or from either the CD or DVD combo drive if music or anything that would have sound is in it.

I haven't noticed any particular apps it fails in. Only that if there is no sound at bootup, there is no sound at all anytime during that session. I hope this helps you. Please let me know if you need more information.

Again, thank you very much! I appreciate your help. I'm new to Ubuntu and trying to learn, while getting everything running correctly. I'm a Windows "convert."
Sincerely, Cheryl

Output of 'sudo lspci -vvnn'
            sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log
