Bug Description

the package lists http://tomas.styblo.name/wmctrl/ as the Homepage for the project. This redirects to the author's google+ feed now. http://tripie.sweb.cz/utils/wmctrl/ is probably a better URL.

This should go in via Debian, not via Ubuntu. Please submit it there.

Is it better to fix this in Ubuntu or INSIST on it coming in via Debian?

I appreciate you efforts in helping to make Ubuntu better here. However if we upload this to Ubuntu then we have to then start merging against every package update in Debian, and if we don't then the package languishes without updates. This is the cost to adding a delta in Ubuntu, and so we don't do it for trivial reasons. So yes, for trivial and inconsequential changes like these, we send to Debian instead and just wait for the change to trickle through.

Nobody's forcing you to send the patch to Debian, but I don't think it's worth maintaining a delta in Ubuntu over this. I'm therefore NAK-ing this patch on behalf of Ubuntu, unsubscribing sponsors, and marking the Ubuntu task Won't Fix to make this clear. The only reasonable path to getting this change landed is to send it to Debian.

Understood and accepted.

That's unfortunate, given the very sta(b)le nature of the package making the necessity of a rebase of the delta fairly unlikely. I would also certainly think that giving users correct information on where to get support is not "inconsequential" but it's OK to disagree.

Thank you for your explanations.

I accept that "inconsequential" was perhaps a bit harsh. My point still stands though - the only reasonable path to getting this change landed is to send it to Debian.
