Bug Description

When using the Hardy Heron Kubuntu live cd alpha 2 on a Windows XP professional (SP2) the NTFS filesystems of Windows fail to mount. When you try access the drives via Konqueror it displays a "have to rethink extra options" dialog. After you press ok on the dialog nothing else happens with the NTFS filesystem. The filesystems are regular ones created in XP, no special options.

Thanks for taking the time to file this bug. Sorry nobody got to it while Hardy alpha 2 was still out. Does the problem still exist on the latest alpha?

It still exists on alpha4. It's also only when you work from the live cd. If you install Hardy on a separate partition and run from there the NTFS drives are properly mounted (missing drivers for ntfs or so on the live cd?).

It would be nice to be able to mount NTFS partitions from the live cd, most of the people using the live cd for the first time would be Windows users and even my first reaction was to go the windows drive (as it's an icon) to try to open some word documents with open office. USB sticks do work from the live cd.

Alpha 5 is out today. Can you check versus that? Also, what happens if you try to mount manually?
"sudo mkdir /media/windows"
then mount
"sudo mount /dev/hda5 /media/windows -t ntfs"

I just checked hardy alpha5... for me it's fixed in there. I can access the windows by clicking on the icons in konqueror, no extra actions are needed.

So I guess this one can be closed.
